Dragons captain Gareth Widdop has opened up about the difficult decision to leave the Dragons (and the NRL) at the end of the 2019 season. 

Widdop, who will join English Super League side Warrington Wolves for 2020 and beyond, told The Rush Hour with MG it was time to move on and go home.

"It's something I've personally wanted to do and work with the club to make sure it's in the best possible shape for when I do move on," Widdop told Triple M. 

"A few things come out that weren't true about me going early, that was never the case. 

"But we are here now, we've made the decision early and we can move on and focus on playing football. 

Widdop also opened up on the season ahead for the Dragons including his positional switch to fullback after the arrival of Corey Norman.
