Shopping for your groceries may take on a far more European flavour following the announcement German supermarket chain Kaufland will open its first Australian store in Adelaide.

A $25 million sale from the Schwarz Group – who also own the Lidl supermarket chain – will see the new store located three kilometres from the CBD on Anzac Highway, Forestville, Adelaide Now reports.

With a whopping 20,000 square metres of floor space, the supermarket will be five times the size of a stock standard Coles of Woolies supermarket – here’s hoping they don’t put the milk at the very back of the store.

Across its 60,000 products on offer, many iconic brands will reportedly also be on hand.

Kaufland opened its first store in Gemany back in 1984, and now operates more than 1230 stores across Europe in countries including Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland.
