Get In Quick! Volunteer Registration For 2018 GC Comm Games Opens Today

If you'd like to be a volunteer for the upcoming 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, you better get in early because those spots are going to fill up extremely fast.

Online registration opens at 9am Monday morning, however organisers have already received around 35,000 expressions of interest and there's only 15,000 volunteer spots up for grabs. 

Games chairman Peter Beattie said many people would likely miss out, but it was great to see so much interest. 

"To those Queenslanders who don't succeed in the end, and we hope you all do, there will be other opportunities," Mr Beattie told reporters on Sunday.

Volunteer positions range from drivers, to VIP escorts to medical staff, the majority of sports will be needed on the Gold Coast however there are also events being held in Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville. 

Head to the official games website to register, applications are open to all people across Australia.
