Today is National Kebab Day. What a day to celebrate that humble snack we think is awesome especially at 2am on the way home from a big night out.

Oh the memories of waking up with a half-eaten kebab on my bed side table.

There is nothing better than a meat feast with salad, smothered in sauce (garlic, hummus and chilli FTW) wrapped in fresh bread.

So get in the spirit of this day and take your mouths on a journey folks.

Their claim to fame is they are the most awarded kebab shop in Australia, so your taste buds are in for a treat. The fun owners add to the experience of their tasty kebabs.

Dishing up mouth-watering beef, chicken, mixed and vego kebabs on fresh bread with all of the goods. The special garlic and chilli sauce you could just eat on its own. And the tabouli is on point. Totally worth the wait, and ya never know you might join in a sing-a-long with the staff.

Five stars to New Star Kebabs in Auburn. They freshly grill their meat to your liking and they don’t go easy on the filling. It’s a meat feast!!!!! They top it on scrumptious bread and all of your fav toppings. My pick is their home made chilli sauce. It a great place to have a family dinner or get your friend together for a feed. Plus, they are open until late, so you can always ask your trusty taxi or Uber driver to drop in for a snack.

A great kebab joint in the heart of the city that starred on the SBS TV show ‘Kebab Kings’. Prices are great, the menu is full of options for all tastes. You will not go hungry. Why not try skippy on a burger? Yep the kanga kebab is a thing at Oz Kebabs. Because STRAYA!

Take your tastebuds on a succulent journey with the Watsup menu. Their service is quick, you quality customer service and the meat…all of the delish!!! It is seasoned with red peppers, herbs and spices grilled to perfection that won’t feel like a grease overload. They also do wicked pide, because you can never have too many Turkish treats.

This family owned restaurant have come a long way. Around 20 years ago they were a little van up the road but now they are smashing out awesome food next door to the Melton Hotel (so convenient after you enjoy a few drinks). Give the Hey Hey Special a crack – mouth-watering mixed meat, your fav salads, cheese and your fav sauce. Whatever you do don’t miss out on their home made chilli sauce.

Get your mouth around their lamb kebab, seasoned to bring out the best flavour. Accompany it with a side of hot chips and chicken salt. They are also opened late for a late night snack attack.

They’ve been making delicious kebabs for 20 years, so you know they’ve got the art mastered. Chicken, Beef, Lamb and Vego kebabs are on the menu to keep everyone happy. Our pick is the juicy lamb doner kebab. The meat is marinated off site and it’s so popular you can only get on certain nights. Topped with fresh salads and sauces make this one a winner.

Over 20 years ago it started as a small take-away shop, now it’s one of Sydney’s must visit restaurants. You can takeaway, or lap up the atmosphere and dine in. On Friday and Saturday night’s they have live belly dancing and Turkish tunes which is so much fun as you feast away. You must try the chicken iskender kebab with yoghurt, garlic, home-made tomato sauce on Turkish bread. I WANT IT NOW.

Where: 409 Cleveland St, Surry Hills

Get ready for some authentic Turkish cuisine that will leave you hanging for more visits. This place prides itself on ‘Australia’s “BEST” halal snack pack’. Seriously. Beef, chicken, lamb, they have it freshly made for you. It’s even worth trying their pizza, pides, fresh seafood and salads and desserts. The prices are cheap AND the staff are so lovely. All round an epic experience.
