Getaway Van Burned After Wild Ormeau Armed Robbery
Hunt For Three Masked Men
The hunt continues for three men who stormed and robbed a tavern at Ormeau over the weekend.
Police claim three masked men fired a bullet through a glass door a the Norfolk Tavern on Halfway Drive at around 3.30am on Saturday.
One of the offenders threatened a security guard with a machete before the trio stole a sum of cash and escaped in a stolen white van.
Inspector Brendan Wiblen told Nine Gold Coast the vehicle was found later that day on fire and abandoned on Punkett Road at Tamborine.
"It indicates a degree of planning," said Inspector Wiblen.
"It's not necessarily sophisticated, but it is a very violent planned event."
The men were described as Caucasian in appearance, but had their faces covered during the hold-up.
Anyone who knows of their whereabouts is warned not to approach them, but rather contact police via Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
