The hunt continues for three men who stormed and robbed a tavern at Ormeau over the weekend.

Police claim three masked men fired a bullet through a glass door a the Norfolk Tavern on Halfway Drive at around 3.30am on Saturday.

One of the offenders threatened a security guard with a machete before the trio stole a sum of cash and escaped in a stolen white van.

Inspector Brendan Wiblen told Nine Gold Coast the vehicle was found later that day on fire and abandoned on Punkett Road at Tamborine.

"It indicates a degree of planning," said Inspector Wiblen.

"It's not necessarily sophisticated, but it is a very violent planned event."

The men were described as Caucasian in appearance, but had their faces covered during the hold-up.
