A Gold Coast man is attempting to set a Guinness World Record, by building the largest ever caravan made out of Lego.

Ben Craig, AKA The Brick Builder, spent five weeks planning and another five weeks building the masterpiece, which has now gone on display up in Brisbane at the Queensland Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow.

The official judging was set to take place on Wednesday morning, with the caravan needing to bigger than the current record holder, which was built out of 216,000 bricks.

Mr Craig believed he had it in the bag, saying his caravan used more than 280,000.

"It's five metres long and two metres high and weighs over one tonne," he said.

"It's been in my garage up until last week, and my wife is glad to have it out of the house!".

To meet the Guinness World Record standards, the caravan also had to be fully functional.

"So it has opening and closing doors, it's got lighting and power, it has a sink, an oven and things you would normally find in a caravan," said Mr Craig.
