Google's Drone Service Will Start Delivering Hungover Macca's In Australia From This Week

Hangovers just got slightly more bearable with the news that Google's drone delivery service is set to launch in Australia this week.

Wing Aviation Pty Ltd - a subsidiary of Google's parent company Alphabet - has been granted permissions to commence flying drones in some suburbs of Canberra, the Civil Aviation Authority confirmed.

That means that your need for burgers, a coffee, late night lollies or painkillers can be satiated in six to 10 minutes, without getting stuck in traffic.

"Our delivery drones can pick-up a package from a business or home, fly to a designated destination and gently lower the package to the ground in a precise location (like a backyard or near a doorstep)," Wing's website reads.

"Our drones map the best route to a designated location using our unmanned traffic management platform (UTM) which manages the drones' flight path from take-off to landing, making sure they plan routes around each other, buildings, trees or anything else that might be in the way."

While the service will only be available in Crace, Palmerston and Franklin to begin with, Wing plans to expand to new suburbs in the coming months.
