The Coalition Government is continuing to act against ice and other illicit drugs, with another round of the Local Drug Action Teams set to roll out across the country.

The initiative works to bring the community together to develop local plans and activities to prevent and reduce the harm caused by drugs and alcohol in their regions.

Team can include representatives from local councils, schools, police, youth services, primary health services, community groups and non-government organisations.

Successful applicants are set to receive $10,000 under the scheme to help them develop a LDAT Community Action Plan.

Potential programs that an LDAT might deliver in communities include raising awareness of the dangers of methamphetamine, encouraging others to seek help, working with vulnerable people to improve their current situation and provide support and information to parents and carers.

Applications are now open teams in our region.
