A severe storm warning has been issued for the Sydney Metropolitan area for this afternoon.
Thunderstorms have developed and are likely for most of NSW today.
The storms are producing damaging winds, heavy rain and large hail, with it possible that flash flooding and large hailstones increasing during the afternoon.
The state emergency service has advised people to move their cars under cover or away from trees, and keep away from power lines.
Computers and appliances should be unplugged.
