A mystery Covid-19 case has sent a second school closing its doors amid growing fears of a Victorian school outbreak.

A teacher at Truganina's Al-Taqwa College tested positive on Wednesday afternoon propelling all 300 staff members and 2,100 students into isolate for 14 days and advisory testing.

Truganina teacher who tested positive for COVID could have been infectious in the community for a week

Contact tracers are working around the clock to determine how she caught the virus with health officials suggesting she may have been infectious while teaching on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday last week.

Victoria's Covid Commander Jeroen Weimar said those orders also apply to anyone living with someone connected to the school.

"So, if you live in the same household as somebody who is a teacher or student at AL TAQWA then you all need to isolate for the next 14 days. The primary close contacts are those individuals the students and teachers at the school, but the people they live with all need to isolate for the next 14 days"

Meantime, a second school in Melbourne's west closed on Thursday as a precaution.

Ilim College have implemented Covid-19 protocols and precautions and has closed its Dallas, Doveton and Glenroy campuses.
