It has been confirmed that Wallabies coach, Michael Cheika, did personally reach out to the Newcastle Knights superstar in the hope to lure him to Australian Rugby Union.

However, Channel 9's Danny Weidler revealed to Triple M's Moonman In The Morning that if Kalyn Ponga was to switch codes it would be to the New Zealand All Blacks.
