Despite huge amounts of rain across Queensland this year, at least 60 percent of the state is still declared under drought, which is why the Federal Government is backing the Drought Resilience Program.

While we’ve been experiencing abnormal amounts of rain statewide, the wet weather is guaranteed not to last which means a number of Queensland communities need to begin preparing for the next drought.

Professor John McVeigh joins Lee on the show to discuss The Drought Resilience Program and what it entails.

Professor McVeigh explains what activities are included in the program and how these activities help Queensland farmers and drought-stricken communities get through the dry season.
