Electric system causes closure

UPDATE| The centre will be re-opening at 3.30 today [20/03/17]. Normal services will resume from that time.

Hobart's DOONE KENNEDY AQUATIC CENTRE is closed until further notice

The closure is the result of an electrical fault affecting the emergency evacuation and fire detection system.

Centre staff are working with specialist electrical contractors in an attempt to re-open the centre as soon as possible

The centre is currently waiting for Tasmania Fire Service to attend to provide approval for the re-opening of the centre with no time frame at this stage.

Centre management issued a statement saying they "apologise for any inconvenience however the safety of our members, patrons and staff is our highest priority and the Centre cannot operate safely without a fully functioning emergency evacuation and fire detection system."

The fault on Sunday evening with a team working on this through the night, but were not able to resolve the issue.
