Prockick Australia director Nathan Chapman has explained to the Hot Breakfast how he helped Aussie punter Mitch Wishnowsky to get to the Super Bowl with the San Francisco 49ers.

LISTEN HERE:

“He was in Perth and he was knocking about at a park, and one of our I guess friends and colleagues in Perth, Craig Wilson, [and] saw him kick a ball,” Chapman said.

“Craig Wilson sent some film over and said ‘hey I’ve been watching this guy kick and I think you should take a look at him.

“My partner, coaching partner Johnny Smith gave him a phone call, he was out fishing. And he was like, Johnny just said ‘hey mate, we’ve just seen your film, I think you need to move to Melbourne, we’ll change your life’.

“He took that story home to mum and dad, they thought he was crazy.

“This was maybe, what, this was five years ago? Then he basically sold a share in his house, moved to Melbourne for 12 months and did our program.”

Wishnowsky ended up kicking the footy around parks in Box Hill and Glen Iris before making the move across to the US.

“He had to go to junior college... two years at Santa Barbara Community College, played a season of football here then we set him up at the University of Utah,” Chapman said.

Wishnowsky’s 49ers play the Kansas City Chiefs at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Monday February 3rd Australia time.
