Hundreds To Pack Riverway For Cancer Support

This Saturday over 1000 locals will step into Riverway Stadium to support those who have had their lives touched by cancer. 

Relay For Life raises funds for Cancer Council Queensland to give us a cancer free future. 

The event continues to gain local support from schools, businesses, families, and individuals who have registered and hosted fundraisers across the year. 

On Tuesday the Townsville Relay For Life committee celebrated their 1000th registration for the 2017 event. 

Across the 18 hours participants will Celebrate, Remember, and Fight Back for people who have had their lives touched by cancer. 

The Candlelight Ceremony at 7pm Saturday will be a chance to remember those who have been taken from us, and on the Sunday morning the Fight Back Ceremony will see participants pledge to do what they can to create a cancer free future. 

There will be plenty of entertainment across the weekend too from Zumba demos to band performances! 

There will be lots of colour too, with Relay teams having endless options to decorate their camp site with the theme 'Relay Around The World.' 

Relay For Life begins at 2pm this Saturday and will finish at 8am Sunday.
