It’s safe to say that QLD State of Origin side have pulled off some remarkable escapes over the years, Game I last year at Suncorp Stadium and who could forget the Miracle Try of 1994?

But it’s their escape for being stranded in an elevator above the Pullman Hotel in Brisbane’s CBD on Saturday night that may just go down in the annuls of history as one of the all-time greats for the Maroons.

Last night QLD skipper Daly Cherry-Evans joined Dobbo on The Rush Hour to take us inside the Saturday’s unplanned team bonding exercise.

“We were in the for an hour and half and it heated up really quickly in there as you could tell from the sweat on everyone” the captain told Dobbo.

Although since the story broke hooker Jai Arrow has emerged the hero of the players, ripping the doors open himself. However, that’s not exactly how the skipper tells the story.

Cherry-Evans, along with Jai Arrow, Jarrod Wallace, Cam Munster, Corey Norman, Reed Mahoney, AJ Brimson, Kalyn Ponga & Phillip Sami became stuck on the way up to an evening social function and were forced to strip down to their underpants to deal with the heat.

The Manly halfback, who is not a fan of closed in spaces handled the situation his own way.

“I dealt with the panic by sitting down on the floor and just not talking to anyone”

Be wary, New South Wales. Don’t underestimate what this team is capable of now that this unit has reached a whole new level of bonding.
