Investigation Launched Following The Murder Of Australian Teacher In Europe

A massive investigation is underway after the body of a Melbourne teacher was discovered in woodlands in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The woman was officially identified as Shanae Brooke Edwards, a 31-year-old teacher who had been working as an English teacher in Georgia which is located between Russia and Turkey.

Ms Edwards was suspected missing after heading out for a hike in Mtatsminda Park in the Tbilisi capital on July 30 and was last seen at the Church of Mikhail of Tver.

A search operation was launched to find the missing teacher, whose body was located the following day.

The 31-year-old’s death is now being treated as suspicious with a close friend of Ms Edwards’ revealing terrifying details of her last phone call.

The search party was launched after Ms Edwards called a friend in California during the attack. According to a news wire provided by the search party, Ms Edwards was heard screaming for help and pleading “…please let me go okay… just let me go.”

Ms Edwards’ death is now officially being treated as murder with the Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri telling Agenda.ge they are doing what they can to track down the killer.

“We have some information, though I cannot talk about it due to the interests of the investigation,” he said.

Ms Edward’s family is currently receiving help and support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
