Is Orange the Country's Tidiest Town?

After weeks of weeding, watering, spraying and picking up litter, community members and volunteers are putting the finishing touches on our city, before the 2018 Australian Tidy Towns judging, this Wednesday.

Orange is representing New South Wales for the Tidiest Town, after we won the state edition of the competition last year.

The Orange City Council hasn't just been focused on the way our backyard looks though. Our local Tidy Towns Committee has been researching, and getting involved with the community as well.

Mayor Reg Kidd said, “we’re being judged on environmental sustainability, environmental education, community action and wellbeing, waste management, heritage and culture as well as our young achievers.”

The judges will tour a number of locations, like the Ophir Road Resource Recovery Centre, the Orange Regional Museum, the Emmaville Cottage, and Suma Park Damn.

A win would see Orange judged as the most sustainable regional city in the country.
