It's not to late to Donate!

to the Mayors Xmas Appeal

21 December 2017

As Christmas day nears, City of Mount Gambier Mayor Andrew Lee is appealing to the community to dig deep and support the Mount Gambier Community Mayor’s Christmas Appeal. It’s not too late to donate to the cause which provides assistance to more than 2,300 local people each year.

Uniting Care,, Lifeline SE, St Vincent de Paul and The Salvation Army jointly distribute all donations to the appeal through the Christmas Cheer program.

“It’s never too late to offer your support to the community, all donations will go towards helping the needy within our community now and in the future, and every little bit helps,” Mayor Andrew Lee said. Manager of Homelessness Services Trish Spark said the team is preparing to deliver 270 Christmas hampers and gifts to needy local families and individuals on Friday 22nd December, 2017.

“More families have required our help this year, due in part to the high cost of utility bills and the rising cost of living in general,” Ms Spark said.

“People are extremely grateful for the help and some become quite overwhelmed when they receive their hamper. The boxes are full of festive food, fruit, vegetables and bread. A lot of kids wouldn’t have presents or a special meal on Christmas day if it wasn’t for these hampers and goods.”

The Mayor acknowledged the ongoing generosity of the community and praised the support and kindness shown by all who contribute to the appeal.

“Demand for help is greater than ever and we truly appreciate your support and thoughts for the less fortunate, vulnerable or isolated members of the local community during the festive season,” Mayor Lee said.

Donations to the appeal can be made through any of the following channels:
• credit card, direct debit or PayPal account at:
• in person at the City of Mount Gambier Customer Service Counter, Civic Centre, 10 Watson Terrace
• or by cheque marked 'Combined Christmas Appeals Committee' to PO Box 56, Mount Gambier SA 5290.
