Jake Clifford Impressed With Trial Match Performance After 'Long Pre-Season'
This weekend they're off to Mackay!
After a long wait, we finally got to see our Cowboys on the footy field!
Their 2019 NRL season starts on March 16 at 1300SMILES Stadium against the Dragons, but for the time being, we're in trial match mode.
Our boys in blue and grey took on the GC Titans on Saturday night in windy conditions but have come home with the win.
The online stream, even though it had early teething issues, brought the boys into our lounge room for their first test after a big pre-season.
Given that they didn't make the 2018 finals, for some players it feel like a lifetime of prep for the 2019 season.
Jake Clifford had a pearla of a game, getting a hat trick of tries to contribute to the 22-16 win.
"It was a good way to start 2019, the boys pushed through with the wind, which is very hard to play with, but the second half we controlled the game pretty well," says the 21-year-old.
