Hawthorn young gun James Worpel has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of 2021.
This comes after an impressive debut season for the youngster where he became a fan favourite for his courageous play, earning the nickname ‘Worpedo’.
“James is a talented young player with an exciting future ahead of him,” Hawthorn Football GM Graham Wright said of him.
“He’s great person to have around the club, and obviously he’s become pretty popular with our fans too.”
Worpel made his AFL debut in Round 6 last year and went on to play 11 senior games.
He was awarded with a Rising Star nomination in Round 21 against Geelong and also was recognised as the Hawks’ Best First Year Player.
