Whitsunday’s MP Jason Costigan has been stood down from the LNP. Temporarily suspended over harassment claims following an internal move from the Party after a complaint was made against him. It's believed he will be suspended until an LNP State executive meeting tomorrow, where further Party action may be taken against him. Read the story from news.com.au 



A flood warning remains in place for the Pioneer River as heavy rains continue to lash areas north of Mackay. Over a hundred millimetres of rain was recorded in the Pioneer catchment within twelve hours yesterday, adding to the deluge from days prior, in excess of three hundred millimetres. The Bureau is predicting river levels to remain under the minor flood levels but urge residents to be cautious. Aquaculture is on the rise in Proserpine. Tassal announcing yesterday that they’ll invest in a thirty million dollar development project for prawn farming. Head of Engagement Barbara McGregor said current demand for prawns was around sixty thousand tonnes per year. Of this, imports represent two thirds of the supply and aquaculture just 10%.

Senator for Queensland, Matt Canavan has slammed Labor’s calls to ban live exports. It comes after Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has joined the Greens in the fight. Mr. Canavan says the decision will have major impacts on Mackay’s rural jobs.
