Ex-St Kilda star Joey Montagna says Nathan Vardy would regret getting stuck into Max Gawn after Liam Ryan took a giant hanger on the Melbourne ruckman last night.
Joey, Jay Clark and Sarah Olle addressed the issue on Dead Set Legends this morning.
“Nathan Vardy goes over to Max Gawn who’s laying on the ground, pushes him in the back, gives him an earful, says ‘you just got ridden on blah blah blah,’ give me a spell,” Jay said.
“Max Gawn has just absolutely stitched you and Tom Hickey up.
“I would be embarrassed waking up this morning trying to be cheeky or a bit of a smart alec with Max Gawn as he lays prone on the ground.”
Joey agreed it wasn’t a good look.
“Someone would speak to Vardy about that, whether they did straight after the game in the rooms or today they would have just said ‘mate, that’s not on, we don’t wanna stand for that as a club, we don’t want that look,’ Joey said.
“He got caught up in the adrenaline and the emotion of the Liam Ryan mark.”
Sarah Olle said it was lucky Gawn wasn’t injured.
“The thing I didn’t like about it as well is that Gawn actually looked quite dazed, so he was perhaps a bit injured in those circumstances, and I hate that look.”
