Kangaroo Flat Swimming Pool Demolition Will Begin This Week

It's time to say goodbye to the Kangaroo Flat Swimming Pool at Dower Park, with demolition works commencing this week following the opening of Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre. 

City of Greater Bendigo Active and Healthy Lifestyles Manager Lincoln Fitzgerald said that equipment that hasn't already been relocated to other pools in Greater Bendigo is being stored at the City's depot for future use. 

All buildings will be demolished and removed from the site.  This will be followed by the large task of demolishing the pools. The concrete shell of the pools will be removed and the site backfilled and compacted to allow for future use.

Mr Fitzgerald stated that the "future use of the site will be in line with the Dower Park Master Plan 2015, and could include a possible third lawn bowls green, new netball/tennis courts and cricket nets"! 

The demolition works are set to for completion in mid-December.
