KCGM Officially Begins Mining Morrison Layback

The first production blast was set off yesterday on Morrison layback as KCGM commences mining works!
KCGM General Manager, Cecile Thaxter, said that they have worked "collaboratively and tirelessly" to redesign the pit.
Although this starter pit is smaller than the originally contemplated Morrison and Brownhill laybacks, it does provide flexibility with an additional mining area, while we continue to progress remediation plans.- Cecile Thaxter
KCGM has also acknowledged their commitment to keep the noise, blast vibrations and dust managed to ensure the impact on surrounding residents and businesses is minimised.
