AFL draft guru Kevin Sheehan reckons there's still four players in the mix to go Pick 1 in Thursday's draft.

Most of the media attention has drifted towards Geelong Falcons hard-nut Sam Walsh being selected by Carlton with the top pick in this year's NAB AFL Draft.

However, speaking to Jars and Louie on Triple M Adelaide, AFL draft guru Kevin Sheehan said it wasn't as clear cut as that, with any of four players preparing to be this year's number one selection.

"I think there's four in it," Sheehan said.

"Stephen Silvagni (Carlton list manager) has not been quoted saying what he's going to do.

"So (Izac) Rankine's in that group. He's in the mix with (Jack) Lukosius.

"As is Sam Walsh from over here (in Victoria) from the Geelong Falcons.

"And there's another kid called Max King, who earlier in the year would have gone number one...before he had an ACL injury".

The first round of the draft will take place Thursday night at Marvel Stadium, while Round 2 and onwards will take place on Friday.
