Broncos coach Kevin Walters has addressed alleged behavioural issues this afternoon at Red Hill, fronting the media alongside the suspended prop Payne Haas.

Haas was handed a $50,000 fine by the NRL this morning along with a three-game suspension that will see him miss the opening rounds of the 2021 season.

Reading a prepared statement to the awaiting media, Haas, 21, apologised and took ‘full responsibility’ for the actions that saw him plead guilty to a Tweed Heads local court on two counts of intimidating police.

Walters, in his first season at the helm of the Broncos, followed Haas’ statement by showing his support for his Origin star while maintaining that a higher level of responsibility needs to be taken by all in the league, from top to bottom.

“Payne is a great young fella, he’s only twenty-one years of age. We all make mistakes, and this was a big one from Payne…Again I support the NRL in their stance, Payne’s made a mistake and he’s paying for it."
