It’s not just Australia that’s sweltering through a heatwave — New Zealand is also sweating.
It’s gotten to the point that they’re complaining about not being able to sleep at night, in oppressive 18C conditions.
The New Zealand Herald posted an article yesterday about how best to beat the searing 18 degree sauna that will be a Kiwi bedroom.
- Putting a bowl of ice in front of a fan “so that it blows out colder air”.
- Aiming your fan out an open window instead of towards you to push the hot air out and bring the cool air in
- Freezing your bedding
- And filling a hot water bottle with tap water, putting it in a freezer, then sleeping with it
Just some handy hints to remember next time you can’t sleep on those balmy 18 degree nights.
Our thoughts go out to our Kiwi cousins in this tough time.
