The new and improved Belmont Baths will re-open this Saturday.
It now boasts a large netted swimming area 70 metres long and 45 metres wide, along with a 70 metre jetty after its $850,000 revamp.
Mayor Kay Fraser is officially opening the new facility and celebrating with live music, inflatable races, a sausage sizzle and more, from 10am till 1pm.
“This is the perfect time of year for Belmont Baths to reopen...with lake water quality the best it has been for decades, these baths will provide a place for the community to enjoy one of our great natural assets," Fraser said.
The baths had been off limits since the site was badly damaged in the April super storm in 2015.
Stage two of the project will begin in early 2019, which includes a new amenities block with accessible change room, aquatic wheelchair storage, and foreshore landscaping.
