The injuries have continued at Carlton this pre-season, with Liam Jones the latest to fall victim.

Jones has been sidelined with a minor fracture to his left hand after an incident at training on Monday.

The 27-year-old will undergo surgery on Wednesday, with the Blues expecting the injury to interrupt his pre-season.

Jones has impressed over the past two seasons since shifting to defence, playing 29 of a possible 34 games over the back half of the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

It's the latest in a spate of pre-season injuries to hit the Blues.

Co-captain Sam Docherty will likely miss the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament for the second time, while Jarrod Pickett is also a long way from returning after tearing his patella tendon at training.

Mitch McGovern was also sidelined with a non-displaced fracture in his back.
