Richmond star Alex Rance has answered when he could return from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

WHEN COULD ALEX RANCE PLAY AGAIN?

Rance went down in the third quarter against Carlton in round one, with an ACL tear then tipped to see him miss the rest of the season.

But that might not be the case just yet, with Rance talking up how smoothly his recovery has gone to date on Triple M's Rush Hour.

"I've just got to manage that swelling and then manage Dimma's emotions and the medical staff's emotions towards it," he said.

That's when JB prompted him about whether he was any chance of playing again in 2019.

"I love when this question comes up, because the club just cringes when I say 'yeah, absolutely I'm going to play'," he told Triple M.

"I really want to play come the end of the year, but obviously I'm not going to do it if I'm at any danger of damaging it again.

"I feel confident. If Alisa Camplin can come back after 16 weeks and win bronze (at the Olympics) and Tyson Goldsack can come back after 22 (weeks), why can't I?"
