Triple M's Eddie McGuire has responded to comments about COLA and the Next Generation Academy from GWS figureheads Dave Matthews and Wayne Campbell.

Matthews labelled the academy system "bull****" and backed in the need for Sydney's cost of living to be introduced, while Campbell criticised the coverage of GWS players being linked to other clubs.

Eddie replied to the comments from Matthews about the system - which helped Collingwood land Isaac Quaynor in last year's draft - on Triple M's Hot Breakfast on Monday morning.

He said GWS was being a "bit silly" over criticism of the Quaynor situation, considering he was only able to be in the Next Generation Academy for a couple of years.

"So they're trying to pick a fight with me over this, are they?" he said.

"I don't think GWS could be asking for any more help than they've already had along the journey.

"I was one of the first people to call for a COLA, but the COLA was for first year players who were on $50,000, not for Buddy to have three maids.
