Eddie McGuire has hit out at AFL 360 host Mark Robinson on the Hot Breakfast this morning, saying the Herald Sun man is biased against him.

Eddie’s comments came after Robbo suggested he shouldn’t make comments about Carlton’s coaching as Collingwood president, following Ed suggesting that the Blues may be in the hunt for Alastair Clarkson.

“I’ve been a credited media AFL card carrier for 41 years,” Ed said.

“I think my first title is football journalist, football reporter, football pundit.

“I am Collingwood president which is an unpaid, part time job… my job in life is to come in here every morning and offer opinions, break news and talk about different things, that’s what I do.

The conversation then turned to whether or not Alastair Clarkson was sounded out for the Collingwood job when Nathan Buckley’s contract was up for renegotiation.

“You’re gonna ask me about did I speak to Alastair Clarkson, and I’ll get to that in a second,” Ed said.

“But I did refer back to the time I was in this situation when Collingwood was coming out of the mire and I did look around.

“I looked around and I saw Kevin Sheedy, back in 1999, I saw Mick Malthouse, I saw Dennis Pagan.

“And I looked around… this is the insight I’m trying to give people. If Mark Robinson could put aside his complete bias and hatred of me — and jealously to be perfectly honest — if he could just put that aside for two seconds in his life and actually listen to what’s going on rather than banging on like an empty drum.”

Ed was frustrated that a sports opinion show had a crack at him for having an opinion.

“That was just ridiculous having watched the show where they ask everyone for their opinion about everything in sport, but I’m not allowed to have an opinion,” he said.

Ed’s comments were part of a broader discussion about comments he made regarding Carlton potentially looking to hire Alastair Clarkson and whether or not he himself had approached Clarkson for the Pies job.
