AFL Legend sees good in Folau

The word ‘legend’ doesn’t even go close to describing the stature that Kevin Sheedy holds in the game of Australian Rules football. Three premierships as a player with Richmond, 4 flags a coach of Essendon and when the Greater Western Sydney Giants were announced as the 18th Franchise to enter the AFL competition there was only one logical choice as to who would be their inaugural coach.

Then in 2010, young rugby league phenomenon Israel Folau shocked the football world by following Karmichael Hunt’s code-switching lead by signing with Sheedy's Giants.

Fast forward to 2019 and Folau’s reputation has rapidly deteriorated in the eye of the sporting public, yet Sheedy still remembers a polite young man who he believed had what it took to become an AFL great.

“I have no doubt he would’ve made it eventually” Sheedy told Dobbo on The Rush Hour on Friday night
