It was a roar that shook the Gabba to its foundations and Lions captain Dayne Zorko is still reveling in the moment.

A sell-out crowd of 35,608 witnessed Brisbane overturn a 17-point final term deficit against a tiring Geelong to send them a game clear on top of the AFL ladder.

In his 50th game it was the former cat Lincoln McCarthy who proved the match winner, taking a hanger in the dying minutes then calmly converting from 20 meters out to give the Lions the lead. What followed will be remembered by Brisbane fans for decades to come.

“To have the composure to go back and kick the goal, it was a fitting moment… I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it again.” Zorko told The Big Breakfast this morning.

Most importantly, the one-point win poises the Lions perfectly for a strong September. With the double chance already locked in, a win against a red-hot Richmond at the MCG on Sunday will guarantee a home qualifying final.

However, if they lose and results go their way you can ensure another two capacity crowds at the Gabba in 2019.
