It’s been a harrowing month for our firefighters here in QLD and around the country and now the incredible stories of heroism are starting to emerge.

This morning The Big Breakfast spoke with Rural Fire Brigade First Officer Wayne Scott, a man tasked with coordinating the effort against numerous blazes in Central Queensland.

“We were stating at half-six, seven in the morning and going through to half-eight at night” Scott told Marto, Margaux & Nick Cody.

Scott also put out the call to arms for younger volunteers to join the RFS “The average of volunteers is now sitting on the wrong side of 50”

We’re raising a glass to the Firies to say thank you for their incredible efforts over the last month at The Kedron Park Hotel next Wednesday 4th December. It's a free event with proceeds going to givit.org.au

GIVIT supports the people impacted by fires with 100% of donations going towards purchasing essential items for these affected families.
