LISTEN | “Our world has been destroyed” Grieving husband pleads with public to get flu vaccine

A grieving husband has pleaded with the public to get vaccinated against the flu after the unexpected death of his wife from complications arising from Influenza A.  

Toowoomba man, Dan Foulds, spoke The Big Breakfast this morning after his wife Jacinta, 35, passed away on Wednesday morning leaving behind two children aged 10 & 6.

Jacinta Foulds contracted flu-like symptoms last Wednesday and tested positive to Influenza A on Friday. Her condition deteriorated until she was eventually placed in a medically induced coma early yesterday morning from which she never awoke.

“She was such a strong woman …I think whatever she was feeling she just thought this is what Influenza A is and I have to ride it out” an aggrieved Dan told Marto, Robin and Nick Cody.

This flu season has proved to particularly deadly with 83 people having died from complications relating to the disease so far in 2019. That figure is nearly double that of last year.
