Mark Ricciuto has opened up on the omission of Bryce Gibbs, labelling it a "courageous" decision by the Crows.

ROO OPENS UP ON THE DECISION:

Gibbs was a surprise out for the do-or-die clash with North Melbourne, with inside midfielder Cam Ellis-Yolmen favoured ahead of him.

Roo said it was "courageous" by the coaching staff, hoping it served as a message to other underperforming players.

"This is a huge omission. I can't remember a big omission like this in an Adelaide Crows line-up for a long, long time," he said.

"He hasn't been in good form. His skills have been below par for him. He's one of the most skilful players in the competition and he's been missing targets.

"He hasn't had an influence on the game. He should be having an influence."
