A Gold Coast tradie is desperately pleading for anyone who's worked with artificial stone - like cutting kitchen bench tops - to get checked ASAP.
The Big Breakfast spoke exclusively this morning with Shane Parata, brother of Anthony White, who passed away on Saturday due to complications arising from silicosis - an irreversible, deadly disease caused by breathing toxic silica dust found in manufactured stone used for kitchens and bathrooms.

Doctors have told us silicosis is, at first, a silent killer; they say that by the time a sufferer is feeling short of breath it can be too late, so the advice is to contact Workcover Queensland's respiratory diseases team now.
