As the footy world prepares for arguably the most significant scan results of the season, Tom Browne has told Triple M's Hot Breakfast one team is "quietly confident" about their chase for Stephen Coniglio if he avoids an ACL.

Coniglio went down with a knee injury in the early stages against Richmond on Sunday afternoon, with fears he could miss the rest of the season depending on the scan results.

It also has massive free agency implications, with Browne confirming three teams - Carlton, Hawthorn and West Coast - were all awaiting the results closely.

One of those teams, Browne said, is "quietly confident" about their chances of getting him if the scans show no ACL tear.

"His manager sought to get a scan even late last night," Browne said.

"That's how anxious Coniglio was.

"He isn't happy, my understanding, that he played yesterday. He injured his knee the week before against Brisbane (and) had it scanned during the week, apparently those scans came up clear."
