A 29-year-old man from St Lawrence has died in a horror crash in Ogmore. It happened yesterday morning when a Toyota Landcruiser, traveling on the Bruce Highway left the road and crashed just before 4am. It happened about 20klms south of the Waverly Creek rest area and police are asking witnesses to call Crime Stoppers.

Investigations are continuing into a car fire in Richmond. Firies receiving the call to attend the scene on Holts Road at around 8 on Saturday night, they had it out in 15 minutes. It's believed the car had been reported stolen on Thursday.

A 58 year old man is due to front the Mackay Magistrates Court today, charged with robbery, deprivation of liberty and an unrelated charge of robbery. It's following an alleged armed robbery in Sarina on Friday morning. Police allege a man entered a hotel on Broad Street, armed with a knife and demanded money

The Mackay region's making a name for it's self, taking out a few Central Queensland Training Awards. The Mackay Regional Council named the Large Employer of the year and McDonalds Mackay the Medium Employer of the Year. While local Stewart Dorante has been crowned the Apprentice of the Year and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year

Preschools, kindies, primary and high schools across Mackay will be taking part in school national tree day. For everyone else it's on the 30th of July, but it's on the 29th for our schools. Councilor Fran Mann says kids till be taking to Platypus beach.


The Mackay Cutters have slashed through the Capras pack to claim a win at the weekend. They got it over the CQ side 38 points to 20 on Saturday night. Andrew Davey being named the man of the match.

Both our Mackay Meteors and Meteorettes have recorded a win and loss in Round 12 of the QBL. Our basketball guys and girls managed to get it over the Cairns sides but couldn’t defeat the sides from Townsville. The Meteors lost 97 points to 67 and the Meteorettes went down 96 points to 81.
