The Riverina region will have local representation at the September National Hockey Championships, with the NSW 'Mega Masters' teams revealed.

Helen Lansdown from Wagga has been named in the women's Over 65s squad, one of 21 players in the NSW Women's squad.

There are multiple players selected from Central West, who will compete at the National Mega Masters event in September.

The Newcastle International Hockey Centre is the destination for all squads, ranging from under 34s - over 65s.

Aligning with Destination NSW's existing agreement, the Australian Men’s and Women’s Masters 2021 Championships will be held as a rounded event, after separate events and tournaments were postponed due to COVID-19 in 2020.

With the 2021 World Cup event cancelled, the Mega Masters is an opportunity to highlight the efforts of the Hockey Australia community in a weekend for all-aged players.

Players were congratulated in a statement on NSW Hockey's website.

"Congratulations to all the athletes selected in the 2021 NSW Women's Masters State Teams. These athletes were selected after taking part in a trial event in Newcastle this past weekend," the statement read.
