Western Australian local surfer, Jack Robinson has taken out the Margaret River Pro event on Wednesday night.

Robinson stunned surfing giant John John Florence to become the first Aussie man to win the event since 1989.

"The whole town was down here. It was epic, the whole of Western Australia would of been watching, it's pretty cool," Robinson said.

It was just as historic for fellow Aussie Isabella Nichols, who took home her first-ever World Surf League title after a defying run.

Sitting outside the top 10 coming into the event Nichols managed to dominate the entire event to avoid the mid-season cut.

After sealing a spot in the final, the 24-year-old Queenslander put in a dominant display against Hawaiian Gabriela Bryan to win her maiden Tour title.

"I don’t feel like this moment is real right now," Nichols said.

"I’ve dreamt about this my whole life. I feel like I’m still in bed at home asleep. It will take me a while to digest."

"There is no better feeling than this in the whole world. I just had fun. I know it sounds super corny."
