Collingwood Park, home to the North Albany Football Club and a number of senior and junior sports including cricket and touch rugby will receive new lighting, thanks to the Department of Sport and Recreation's Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund and the City of Albany.

The lighting upgrade will be similar to the new lights installed at Railways ground in 2013 and will be funded with $110,240 from the Department of Sport and Recreation and $220,000 from the City of Albany.

Deputy Mayor Greg Stocks said the funding would assist North Albany to improve its facilities.

"This lighting upgrade will not only allow for greater participation and training in the evenings, but will allow for the fixturing of twilight games and the growth of women's football in the region", Cr Stocks said.

This announcement comes as major works continue at Centennial Oval to turn it into the most advanced sports facility in regional Western Australia. The upgrade at the new stadium is set to be completed during 2017.
