ICE and stolen property seized

An operation in Tasmania's North West has secured drugs, firearms and a variety of other goods as well a lead to a number of charges.

Police seized a stolen rifle, ICE and methylamphetamine and charged a man with 17 drug, stealing and firearms offences following searches of addresses in Cooee and Camdale yesterday.

The 39-year-old man from Cooee was held by police to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court today.

Suspected stolen property including power tools, commercial cleaning equipment and car parts were seized.

Detective Inspector Rob Gunton said: “Stolen property relating to three separate incidents as well as other items suspected of being stolen were located in a rented shed in Camdale. Drugs including cannabis, ICE and methylamphetamine were found in the house, as well as various smoking devices and drug paraphernalia,” he said.


The 39-year-old man was charged with the following offences:
 Possess a controlled drug
 Possess a firearm when not the holder of a firearm licence of the appropriate category
 Possess controlled plant or its products
 Possess thing used for administration of controlled drug
 Fail to comply with storage of firearms requirements (Category A firearms)
 Possess ammunition when not the holder of the appropriate firearm licence
 Fail to take all precautions to ensure safekeeping of ammunition
 Possession of stolen firearms
 Stealing x 3
 Burglary
 Trespass - (Land) x 2
 Attempted stealing
 Destroy property
 Unlawful possession of property

Other charges were also laid against a number of people including:
A 45-year-old woman was charged with possession of cannabis.
A 38-year-old woman was charged with stealing.
A 35-year-old woman was charged with possession of cannabis.
A 43-year-old man was charged with possession of ICE.
