A West Mackay man has died from injuries after a collision with an enclosure gate on Bucasia Beach. The 25 year old was taken to Mackay Base Hospital, but he died from his injuries. The Forensic Crash Unit attended the scene this morning to take photos and gather evidence for an investigation.

A resident woke to a nasty surprise on Friday. An intruder had broken into the Swan Street home in Slade Point at 2am, waking the resident who was sleeping at the time. The resident began to yell at the intruder, who quickly fled. Our local Woolworths Supermarkets are coming on board to help our most vulnerable. Share the Dignity and the supermarket giant will be joining forces, with Woolworths confirming they'll give five cents of every sale from sanitary items to the charity.The money will go towards local domestic violence shelters to get pads and tampons to women and teens.

Canegrowers Mackay Agricultural Trade Expo is just months away, with organisers wanting stall holders to get on board. The two day event in its third year, with attendees going in the draw to win a Honda generator. Wests Tigers General Manager Kingsley Theiber says they're hoping to get even more stalls than last year. It’s set to get underway in May.

There’ll be eyes in the sky over Sarina with a drone survey scheduled. Mackay Ragional Council will be investigating refurbishment options for the Sarina CBD on Friday and Saturday. The drone footage will be used to record parking demand within the survey area to better cater for the requirements of motorists as part of the Sarina Town Centre Revitalisation Project. Cr Karen May said council was working to finalise the design and determine construction costs for the revitalisation project.

Mackay has hosted the race that stopped the nation All eyes were on the Mayor and Deputy Prime Minister as they raced down the new synthetic running track of the ARC. It was clear Mr McCormack had been training as he tore past Cr Williamson. The race ushered in the opening of our new sports precinct.
