Man Dies Following Attack In Hamilton

One man has died and another is undergoing surgery following a fight in Hamilton overnight.

Around 3:30am police were called to Donald Street, Hamilton following reports of two men fighting in the street.

When they arrived they were told the men had left the area in a car, possibly driver by a third man.

Not long after, police attended a unit on Cody Street, Hamilton South where they found the body of a 51-year-old man.

They also found another man with serious head injuries.

The 23-year-old was taken to the John Hunter Hospital where he is undergoing surgery.

Meantime, a crime scene has been established at the Donald Street home with specialist forensic officers brought in to investigate.
