The search will resume at 7am on Friday morning for a 27 year old man missing off the coast of Woolgoolga, north of Coffs Harbour.
Emergency services, along with Surf Life Savers, and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter continued to search for the missing man until around 7pm on Thursday night.
Witnesses told police the 27 year old man and 21 year old woman entered the water before getting into trouble.
Bystanders assisted the woman to safety; however, the man could not be located.
One man is missing and a woman has been rescued at Main Beach in Woolgoolga this afternoon.
Emergency services are at the scene, while surf life savers on jet skis and an IRB search the water.
NSW Ambulance were called to the location at 3:25pm following reports that the couple had come into difficulty in the water.
The female was taken to shore where she was assessed by ambulance paramedics and is in a stable condition.
The male in his 20’s remains missing.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter is on its way from Newcastle to join in the search.
