Carlton will be without veteran Marc Murphy for a few weeks after being diagnosed with fractured ribs.
Murphy was collected by GWS ruckman Shane Mumford during the club's 93-point loss on Sunday night.
"Carlton midfielder Marc Murphy has suffered fractured ribs during Sunday’s clash with GWS at Giants Stadium," the club posted in a statement.
"Murphy was involved in a collision early in the first quarter and did not take any further part in the game.
"He was taking to hospital in Sydney, where he underwent scans overnight that confirmed the 31-year-old injury.
"Murphy is expected to be sidelined for the next few weeks."
