More than 130 artists are busily preparing to open their doors in their homes, barns, in wineries, art galleries, a retro petrol station, and even an ice cream dairy to meet art appreciators for Margaret River Region Open Studios.

From 28 April to 13 May 2018, painters, sculptors, jewellers, glassblowers, illustrators, textile artists, woodworkers and metalworkers will share their latest works in progress, recent creations and chat about their art during the 16-day event.

Organisers believe it is Australia’s largest open art studios event, and in its fifth year it has 131 artists – the largest number participating to date.

From Busselton to Augusta, visitors to WA’s Margaret River Region will have the chance to have a behind-thescenes experience, which will take them down new backroads and on great adventures from studio to studio.

Many artists will be conducting workshops, special events and experiences during Open Studios.

Local artists and their work are the stars of the show and talent includes Douglas Kirsop, Rachel Coad, Leon Pericles, Rebecca Cool, Mary Lynne Stratton, Lauren Wilhelm, Jo Broadhurst, Ian Mutch, Christian Fletcher, Lesley Meaney, John Miller, John Streater and many more.

Each artist’s studio, workshop or exhibition space is mapped, allowing visitors to easily plan their day. Margaret River Region Open Studios is free to attend and no bookings are needed – it must be the most accessible event in the south west!
